about me

Practically imperfect in every way. Start with a lot of silliness. Mix in some insecurities and a handful of awkwardness. Add a pound of naivety, innocence, and child-like wonderings. Blend well. Half-bake and top off with a sprinkle of imagination and dollop of dreams. It’s the recipe for me!

quote of the day

  • "Moral of the story: Do not look at the gap. The gap is the mind-killer. Remember how Wile E. Coyote never fell down until he saw the chasm? It’s just like that." --Taylor "Tei" Lindstrom, Rogue Ink

dumbass quote

  • "I think we have come to find out that the Education system, run by Liberal Hippies that really couldn't find any other job that allowed them so much time off, the ability to do drugs, and to spout their rhetoric is alive and well. It is teaching out kids things like 'Abortion is Good,' 'Government is Bad.' We have educators that, for the most part, don't teach to the subject, they teach to their beliefs. It is really sad, and even sadder when you see highly intelligent children buying into it." --Kelli

Voting Day

November 2, 2004

I had no intention of blogging anything about election day, but this was too blog-worthy to pass up. This is the first year we’ve voted here in my small charming community. Unlike most places, everyone here votes at the same location. That location is the old mill. And it’s all charming and wonderful, except for one thing. The mill isn’t very large, and it was never meant to house a large crowd of people at one time. So my 45 minute wait to vote this morning was spent almost entirely outside in the rain. I had no idea I would be waiting outside because, well, that’t nuts. I thankfully had an umbrella in my truck, which would have so much better had I worn a warmer coat.

When the Bread Winner and I bought this house–across the street from the house we’d rented–we ended up at a new polling location. The old location was so sweet. All my old lady neighbors volunteered there. It was like a social gathering–with hardly ever a line at all. Now we’re at this other spot where we’ve run into huge lines and no one else that we know. Ick. Today, we ended up in the wrong line (there are two), which we found out after waiting for half an hour. We didn’t have time then to wait in the other line, and when we went back later, there wasn’t a line, and at least it was over quickly. But boy do I miss the old place….

Well, the important thing is that you voted. But, yeah that does suck having to be stuck in the rain. You know, I bet if you were to get cheap umbrella’s from a dollar store, you could have sold them and made a profit.

Oz - I generally like the whole small town charm thing, but the rain sorta negated that aspect. Had it been sunny and 70, my entry surely would have had a different flavor.

D.T. - I was thinking that a coffee stand set up right next to the river would have made a killing. I’ll keep that umbrella idea in mind for next year though. ;)

It’s the spark of an idea that hits me unexpectedly. It’s the silly wonderings I have after a whirlwind of thoughts. It’s about creativity, inspiration, and imagination. But sometimes, it’s just about eating noodles.
