about me

Practically imperfect in every way. Start with a lot of silliness. Mix in some insecurities and a handful of awkwardness. Add a pound of naivety, innocence, and child-like wonderings. Blend well. Half-bake and top off with a sprinkle of imagination and dollop of dreams. It’s the recipe for me!

dumbass quote

  • "I think we have come to find out that the Education system, run by Liberal Hippies that really couldn't find any other job that allowed them so much time off, the ability to do drugs, and to spout their rhetoric is alive and well. It is teaching out kids things like 'Abortion is Good,' 'Government is Bad.' We have educators that, for the most part, don't teach to the subject, they teach to their beliefs. It is really sad, and even sadder when you see highly intelligent children buying into it." --Kelli

One More Thing I Won’t Miss About EMU

August 22, 2005

“Dear EMU Student,

Blah, blah, blah… we have determined that we can no longer afford to accept credit cards for payment on student accounts. Blah, blah, blah… third party… fee of 2.75%. Blah, blah, blah… Visa cards will not be accepted…”

I wonder how well businesses would fare if they did this sort of thing. I’m thinking not well at all.

I also find this part amusing.

“I believe the decision to stop accepting credit cards at EMU is a necessary step in holding down the cost of education. The exact tuition rates for Fall 2005 have not yet been determined…”

The funny thing about that is that I’ve already been billed for Fall 2005 at the NEW TUITION RATES. I’ve also received a letter from the president of EMU detailing the 13.5% tuition increase that has already been implemented.

Has anyone else found their school to be managed as poorly as mine?

My brother is in college right now, and yes, his is equally as retarded. He got a lot of financial aid, but it was scheduled to transfer to his student account on the 15th. Well, the school’s final day to accept payment for the semester was on the 14th. He took his financial aid letter in to the bursar’s office, but they told him if he didn’t pay in full on the 14th he would lose his seat in all his classes. So he had to take out a personal loan for one day to cover it until his aid came in. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I use my debit card for practially everything, and I still get thrown by small mom-and-pop stores that run on a cash-only basis. But they are tiny stores, not colleges! Wow!

There’s another funny bit that happened with the credit card thing last semester. While I was waiting for my Spring student loan, I needed to add one class to the three I had already registered for Fall semester. The only way they would let me add the class was to pay a portion of my Spring semester immediately. I explained that my loan was in progress. They suggested I use my credit card. Reluctantly, I used my credit card to pay the $400 past due amount. A week later, I got a postcard from Financial Aid that said something along the lines of, “Why use your credit card for tuition when you can get a low interest student loan? Contact Financial Aid to see how you can get a student loan to pay for school.”

    Dumbasses.
