about me

Practically imperfect in every way. Start with a lot of silliness. Mix in some insecurities and a handful of awkwardness. Add a pound of naivety, innocence, and child-like wonderings. Blend well. Half-bake and top off with a sprinkle of imagination and dollop of dreams. It’s the recipe for me!

quote of the day

  • "Moral of the story: Do not look at the gap. The gap is the mind-killer. Remember how Wile E. Coyote never fell down until he saw the chasm? It’s just like that." --Taylor "Tei" Lindstrom, Rogue Ink

dumbass quote

  • "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps. And I believe that our education like, such as South Africa, and, the Iraq, everywhere like such as. And I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., or should help South Africa, and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children." --Caitlin Upton, Miss South Carolina Teen 2007

About

Why did you choose the name Noodle-Doodle?

The words noodle and doodle are both good fits for me. Plus, they sound funny together.

noodle - 1) slang for the head; 2) a fool or simpleton; 3) to improvise, experiment, or think creatively; 4) a blog entry about the mundane; 5) a blog entry about the ridiculous

doodle - 1) to draw or scribble idly; 2) to waste time in a foolish activity; 3) a foolish or silly person

What is this blog about?

Every time I’m asked to categorize my blog, I get stuck. There are a lot of categories that would fit in some way or another, but no single category comes close to defining what my blog is all about. Sure, I could call it a Personal Journal, a Mommy Blog, or a Hobby Blog. But none of those are quite right. I think the only label that really tells what my blog is about is Kerrie’s Stuff. But unless you really know me, that label means nothing. So, what is the blog about? Let me see if I can answer that.

Art
It was always my intention for my blog to focus on my art. I do talk about my art a lot, whether it’s my newest artistic pursuit, old favorites I’m revisiting, or experiments to recharge my creativity. I also talk a lot about my feelings about my art. My emotions are pretty much all over the place, from passionate to insecure.

Crafting
Like art, but not. There aren’t many crafts I haven’t tried, and I write about a lot of them here. I’m not a great resource for any particular craft, but rather a smorgasbord of craft stuff. I talk about a wide variety of projects I try, from textiles to wood carving. There’s always something new.

Parenting
My husband and I have twin boys who are a big part of our life, so it’s natural I would talk about them. Additionally, we’re still talking about having another child someday, so sometimes I talk about that too.

Homeschooling
I like to talk about our trials and tribulations of homeschooling. It’s not expert advice, it’s just stuff as it relates to us.

Getting Back to Nature
One of my goals for this year is something I call Getting Back to Nature. I try to spend more time outside and keep a nature journal. Recently, I made the decision to simplify our lives, so I’ve been learning to make things like bread and butter by hand.

Stuff in my head
Other stuff I write about is whatever is hanging around the inside of my head. Sometimes, it’s movies. Sometimes, it’s politics or religion. Sometimes, I need to rant or rave about a product or service. And sometimes, it’s just a bunch of randomness.

Side Blog
I have a few categories on the left sidebar that change whenever I find something new to replace them. Funny or inspirational quotes go under Quote of the Day (though, they don’t really change daily). Stupid things people say go under Dumbass Quote. I have a feeling that one will change the most. Funny things my kids say go under Kids say….

about this blog

It’s the spark of an idea that hits me unexpectedly. It’s the silly wonderings I have after a whirlwind of thoughts. It’s about creativity, inspiration, and imagination. But sometimes, it’s just about eating noodles.
